Value Stream Mapping Workshop

Learn how to use value stream mapping to identify waste, remove bottlenecks, improve cross-functional collaboration, and accelerate delivery of customer value.

Description

Value Stream Mapping is a lean management method for analyzing the current state and designing a future state for the series of events that take a product or service from inception to customer delivery. It is a critical tool for helping organizations understand and optimize ideation, development, delivery, and deployment.

This hands-on workshop is designed for leaders who need to deliver products and services quickly and reliably without increasing risk or sacrificing quality. Participants learn how to plan, implement, analyze, and use the results of value stream mapping to improve one or more value stream processes while avoiding common mistakes.

Key takeaways from this class include:

  • Understanding value stream mapping and how to select products and processes for analysis
  • Identifying waste, bottlenecks, and opportunities to improve effectiveness and efficiency
  • Enhancing cross-functional collaboration and removing barriers between functions
  • Learning value stream mapping best practices

Upon completion of this hands-on workshop, students will experience value stream mapping in practice, including identifying the right team members, defining the problem from the customer perspective, mapping the current state, analyzing timelines and bottlenecks, constructing a future state map, and implementing improvements.

Hands-on Exercises

Participants engage in collaborative exercises designed to strengthen the skills and insights needed to successfully plan and implement value stream mapping. Intact teams leave with an initial value stream map for a defined product area.
