Test Process Improvement
Improve your testing process using a proven, rigorous improvement framework.
The software quality assurance and software testing is hard to do. Many software development methodologies, at best, mention that QA and testing should be performed and, at worst, ignore QA and testing altogether. This has lead to the industry developing the Test Process Improvement (TPI) model. The traditional TPI model identifies twenty key areas that should be considered when evaluating the maturity of an organization’s testing process and assists in determining which areas will have the most significant impact on business value. Key TPI areas of focus include:
- Testing strategy & planning
- Testing life cycle
- Test automation
- Reporting
- Defect tracking
- Test metrics
- Testware and infrastructure
Coveros understands how to leverage TPI to assess and build a plan to improve your QA and testing processes in order to maximize the business value of testing your software. We provide test process improvement using an enhanced version of TPI that adds security testing and risk management to the TPI model. Extensive experience implementing TPI provides Coveros with the ability to not only recommend test process improvements but also benchmark your organization against other leading business firms.
Coveros starts TPI assessments by learning about your unique situation, your market, your software and your software development and QA culture. While it takes time to get to know you and your company, knowing you is the only way to help you build a TPI plan that will work for your organization. We have found that the best way to learn about you and your organization is to conduct a series of interviews with key process stakeholders in order to understand what they are getting out of the process now and what they would like to get out of the process. We also evaluate your current process, process artifacts, QA tools and QA skill sets.
As part of the TPI assessment we will work with your existing QA staff to create a TPI plan that will outline the steps needed to improve your QA process. The plan will include a project plan that will include TPI timelines, milestones and deadlines for the TPI implementation. We help many of our TPI customers establish and conduct a pilot project that tests and verifies many of the test process improvements before rolling out the test process improvements to their entire organization.
Coveros has helped customer improve their testing and QA processes in a number of QA domains including:
- The organizations overall QA process
- Test automation, Build Process and Continuous Integration
- Performance Test Process
- Functional Test Process
- Integration Test Process and Partner Test Process
